Early Life
Doug Haynes was born in Jacksonville, Florida, to James and Barbara Haynes. At 11, he was awarded a scholarship to Phillips Exeter Academy to study Applied Mathematics. He graduated from Stanford University in 1987 with distinctions in Economics and Political Science. During that time, he was an active member of the Stanford University Glee Club, going on tour in Europe and recording an album on the EMI/HMV record label
Career
Doug joined the Boston office of McKinsey & Company as a Principal after receiving his MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. He later transitioned across the Pacific to become the Director of Asian operations based in Hong Kong. He then assumed executive-level positions with Jardine Matheson Holdings, an international conglomerate that included its flagship business, The China Merchants Group
He was appointed as CEO of PwC China in 2010 and became President of PwC Asia Pacific in 2013. In 2015, he left PwC to join McKinsey & Company, where he is currently Director leading the firm’s disruptive technology efforts across industries and sectors. He has also been named a McKinsey’s global leadership team member, reporting directly to Dominic Barton, its Global Managing Partner
Achievements
Doug was recognized for his work in media and entertainment by being listed as one of the “Top 50 Influential Asian Business Leaders” by the Financial Times in 2017. He is also a member of Hong Kong’s Executive Committee as well as one of the co-founders of the Hong Kong-Shanghai Global Forum
On May 20, 2015, Doug Haynes became a global director at McKinsey & Company, overseeing their disruptive technologies efforts across industries. He is a co-founder and board member at The HOPE Forum, a non-profit organization focusing on China’s poverty alleviation programs
