Gretchen Robinson is a legal expert and the Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC). With a law degree from Rutgers University and an impressive knowledge of New York’s unique regulatory framework, Robinson has dedicated her career to improving the public services on Roosevelt Island.
Robinson was born and raised in New York City. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan before graduating from Rutgers University School of Law. She has since worked in both the private and public sectors, representing clients in the media industry, providing counsel on corporate and securities matters, and providing legal advice to government agencies.
Robinson joined RIOC in 2019 and has since become a driving force for positive change. She is responsible for the implementation of RIOC’s strategic goals, as well as for advising on legal and regulatory matters. In her current role, she works with the executive staff, Board of Directors, and other leaders to ensure that RIOC meets the needs of the community.
Robinson is also a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion. She believes that the diversity of the island’s population is an asset and has worked to promote it. She has advocated for the hiring of qualified minorities, and has established a diversity and inclusion strategy to ensure that everyone has a voice in decision-making.
Robinson has also been a driving force behind a number of projects on Roosevelt Island. She was instrumental in the development of the Entrance Pavilion and the Green Roof at Jack McManus Field, which is a multi-sport complex and recreational facility. She also led the effort to secure a $150,000 grant from the Roosevelt Island Public Purpose Fund, which was used to support 13 local nonprofits.
Throughout her tenure at Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation, Robinson has worked hard to ensure that the island’s residents have access to the best possible public services, and has been a tireless advocate for the people of Roosevelt Island.
