Greg Aziz is the chairman and CEO of Walter Kidde Railcar. He is an entrepreneur and businessman from Canada as well as a prominent railroad industry leader. Recent light has been shed on a strike at the company as all 1,475 workers protested at a plant in Hamilton, Ont. These individuals were a part of Local 7135 of the United Steelworkers Union or USW.

The good news is that these workers officially returned to work after the strike lasted 41 days, as Greg Aziz recalls. The two sides agreed on a new contract with a 13% wage increase that includes a 6% raise in the first year and a $1,000 sign-on bonus. The increases will come on each of the 1st and 3rd years of the contract.

This was for work improvements. The strike started on June 29 and was over a want for an increase in compensation and improved safety measures. Greg Aziz made things happen and gave the workers what they wanted.  He gave them what they were seeking along with a better pension plan, an increase in compensation during shifts.
